KISS Tribute Albums Part Three

Howdy people, not been too busy over here lately so i thought i better get my finger out and get some good sounds up here for you. What do you whip out when you want to get people's attention on a Friday night? You go for the best. The hottest band in the land. Or a reasonable approximation of the same. So here's the latest installment in the never ending procession of KISS tribute albums, three various artists collections from the excellent "Larger Than Life" series of releases, and the obscure KISS tribute "Split", featuring two Swedish bands, PARTNERS IN CRIME and FARK, reinterpreting the canon of the grease paint gods.
"LARGER THAN LIFE 2", features the likes of REDD KROSS, MOTORPSYCHO, PRETTY BOY FLOYD, THE DONNAS, PANTERA, ICED EARTH, ANTHRAX, SKID ROW & POISON.
"LARGER THAN LIFE 3", dishes out versions by MOTORHEAD, SLAUGHTER, L.A. GUNS, DEATH, GIRL, ACHERON and ex-KISS man ACE FREHLEY guesting with FOR LOVE NOT LISA to boot!
"LARGER THAN LIFE 4", has more great stuff from GALACTIC COWBOYS, HYPOCRISY, SACK TRICK, ALEX SCOLNICK TRIO, JAMES LAST (!) & BATHORY.

SCANDO/EURO LPs Pt3 (1985-00)

Hey, hey.
We're back again with the final (for now), part of our long running Scandinavian/European Metal LP's/Mini Lp's series, with an even split this time between the European and the Scandinavian.
From the frozen North, we're proud to present GLORY BELLS, the awesome MANINNYA BLADE and modern masters GRAND MAGUS. From Italy, we bring you ASTAROTH, and hailing from Germany, RAILWAY and ZAR, here enlivened by the presence of ex-LUCIFER's FRIEND/URIAH HEEP vocalist John Lawton.
A nice variety of styles on offer here, spanning the years 1985 to 2000, hopefully you'll find something to make your day.

KISS Tribute Albums Part Two

Another post, and yet more great music at Still Alive & Well. All is right with the world.
This time out we're proud to bring you a stack of tribute albums dedicated to hailing the self-styled "Hottest Band In The World", KISS.
If you go waaay back in the archives, you'll find the first part of this mega post, this is part 2, and there will be a part 3 to appear here some time in the future. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, tonight we bring you 5 distinctly different albums, one full of US bands, one from Japan, and a trio of compilations from three different online KISS sites, Kiss Army On Line, Kiss Army Sweden and the Kiss Detention Hall. Some of the versions are pretty true to the originals in sound and spirit, others rearrange the songs to the point where you'll find it hard to recognize them. Some favour the classics, some more obscure hard core fan favourites. All are well worth hearing.
So dig in Kiss army foot soldiers, and enjoy this selection.

Hi again people, another selection from my back catalogue of Scandinavian and European Heavy Metal albums from the years 1983 - 1984.
Some big cult names amonst this little lot, including BULLET, OZ and EVIL. There's another from one of my personal favourites, AXE WITCH as well as a trio of lesser known bands, GOTHAM CITY, PROUD and SYRON VANES, all of whom are more than worthy of your attention, and are entirely appropriate to stand shoulder to shoulder here beside their better known Metal brethern.

SCANDO/EURO LPs Pt1 (1981-83)

Hi again, and a Happy New Year to you all.
This time around we'll be delving into the past to dredge up a whole bunch of under appreciated and seldom seen European and Scandinavian albums and Mini LPs, from back in the days when the Cold War was in full swing and unemployment was at it's highest.
The more things change the more they stay the same eh?
The beautiful girl in the Swedish bikini is gratuitous yes, but it does serve notice that the majority of tonight's featured bands came from that very country, with French, Finnish and Danish acts making up the remainder.
So, in the yellow & blue corner, from Sweden, we have GLORY BELLS BAND, AXE WITCH, GOTHAM CITY and BURN. From France, SHAKIN' STREET. From Denmark, ANGER. And from Finland, RIFF RAFF. All of these records were released between 1981 and 1983, a fertile period for Heavy Metal and Hard Rock, i think you'll find plenty to enjoy amongst tonight's selection.

SCANDO & EURO STEEL : Vol 4 - 84 - 86

Hello again, hope you all managed to squeeze as much fun as possible out of your Christmases, and now that the big day is over i suspect you'll be looking for something to chase away the winter blues. Well folks, i'm glad to oblige with seven shiny black circles of Swedish steel from days of yore, and one from Finland too!
This time around, we span the years 1984 - 1986 to conclude our collection of Scandinavian and European 7"s, EPs and demos.
Tonight's "big" names are OZ, AXEWITCH and HEAVY LOAD, but make sure you take the time to get acquainted with MANINNYA BLADE, WARNING, HELS, MANIAC, FAITH and GOTHAM CITY too, just because you may be unfamiliar with them is no reason not to take the opportunity to check them all out.
I tell you this, i'm prepared to bet that you'll be glad you did!
Although this is the end of this particular musical excursion for the moment, fear not, because next time out we'll be delving into more vintage European and Scandinavian Heavy Metal, but we'll be focusing on the full length albums and Mini LPs from that scene.
Lots of awesome material up my sleeve for that, so stay tuned to STILL ALIVE & WELL for your vintage rawk needs.
